Axminster Tools was transitioning from a traditional office setup with fixed workstations to a modern, agile workspace that encouraged flexibility, collaboration, and wellbeing. The new space needed to reflect the company’s heritage in joinery, incorporate on-brand design elements, and provide a mix of breakout areas, meeting spaces, and agile workstations with space for nearly 50 staff.
A key requirement was to prioritise wellbeing with a fully ergonomic setup for the whole team, a central breakout space and a biophilic approach to design.
We delivered full design services, including space planning and bespoke furniture as well as furniture sourcing and installation, ensuring the workspace was both functional and aligned with Axminster Tools’ brand identity.
Brand-Led Design: The scheme incorporated bold branding elements, including the clients signature red, mission statements and product displays, reinforcing the company’s identity throughout the space. Bespoke ceiling rafts acknowledged their joinery roots, adding a crafted, high-quality aesthetic to the workspace.
Ergonomic Furniture: We introduced height-adjustable desks to every workstation as well as fully flexible task chairs.
Biophilia: We integrated shelving with built-in planters as natural room dividers in the open-plan area, along with additional greenery across the office to enhance wellbeing.
Agile & Collaborative Spaces: A flexible meeting and conference room was furnished with agile furniture, allowing the space to adapt to different functions. A central breakout area provided a space for relaxation and informal collaboration.
Bespoke Furniture: We designed and installed bespoke credenzas, custom-made to match the chosen desk finishes, ensuring a cohesive look.
By blending brand identity, craftsmanship, and flexible working, we created a modern, agile office that supports productivity, collaboration, and staff wellbeing.
